Using a 15th-century fresco, The Triumph of Death, Aurélien Bory imagines invisibili as a dance between past and present, a dance with the invisible. On stage, four dancers, a singer and a musician, all from Palermo, confront the painted figures head-on. Sicilians are accustomed to addressing death with profane confidence. This is the starting point for Aurélien Bory, whose work on Palermo is a look at contemporary issues and the saving power of art.
“Bory's signature style of lively scenography, in which he nests his theatrical and dance gestures, is reflected here in a ballet of forms and textures that envelops invisibili in mystery and depth.” Rosita Boisseau, Le Monde.
Aurélien Bory, in the footsteps of Pina Bausch, combines theater, dance and visual art with invisibili.
