An unknown prince, a beautiful and "icy" princess, a young slave girl, three ministers of the emperor, great and impudent. Indeed, the last work of the great Giacomo Puccini takes place within a mysterious and fascinating China that is revealed through the notes like an iridescent silk ribbon that shows the multiple faces of love: Calaf's unstoppable passion and lucid ferocity of the princess, the tender sentiment of Liù and the constant attraction for the winners of the people of Beijing, ready to change their mind at the slightest change in events. And then the wise warnings of the ministers, confused by a false goodness bathed in irony to act as a counterpart to an evil and deaf executioner before any request for grace.
